“I went to A Touch of Class in San Rafael for wedding dress preservation a few weeks after my wedding, and they did a great job! When I dropped off my dress they explained the process to me about how it would be cleaned and boxed. It took about 10 weeks to get the dress back because they had to clean the bottom twice since it the dress was dirty. (We had an outdoor/garden wedding and before the ceremony we took pictures on the beach.) The staff was extremely friendly and very professional.
The finished dress came packed in a sealed box with a plastic viewing window and a folding lid. The bodice of the dress was put in a form (not laying flat) which will hold it's shape. The dress is folded in half with layers of tissue separating the bodice from the skirt below. This box comes inside a cardboard box and there is a thin canvas zippered bag that fits around this with a handle to carry it.
They instructed me to store the dress in a cool dry place with no light, and it comes with written instructions for storage. They also said that they would steam the dress for free if I or someone wanted to wear it.
